The short version: we don't store your photos, we don't sell your data, and we don't use your photos to train AI models. Your photo exists on our systems only for the seconds it takes to run your consultation.

Who we are

Veramane ("we") operates this hair-consultation service, from Nova Scotia, Canada. For anything in this policy — questions, access requests, deletions, or complaints — email support@veramane.com. We read every message.

What we collect

Access codes — when you purchase a consultation we create an access code and record when it was first used, how many consultation turns it has run, your confirmation that you're 18 or older, and a reference to your Stripe payment (so that if you're refunded in full we can deactivate the code). Payment itself is processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Consultation messages — the text you send during a consultation is processed to generate responses. Your conversation history is kept in your own browser, not in an account database on our servers.
Photos — see the next section, because this matters most.

Your photos and biometric-adjacent data

To give styling advice, the service analyzes characteristics visible in your photo — face shape, hair texture and condition, colour, and skin undertone. Because this involves imagery of your face, we treat it with extra care:

Explicit consent first. The app asks for your consent before your first photo is analyzed, and you can decline and consult by text description instead.
No storage. Photos are processed in your browser, transmitted for analysis, and are not saved to our servers or databases. There is no photo library, gallery, or archive.
Processing partner. Analysis is performed via Anthropic's Claude API. Photos are subject to Anthropic's API data handling terms; we have not opted in to any use of your content for model training.
No biometric identification. We do not create face templates, faceprints, or any identifier used to recognize you, and we never sell or share biometric information.
Residents of Illinois, Texas, Washington, and similar jurisdictions: your consent is collected before any photo analysis, and because photos are not retained, there is no stored biometric data to schedule for destruction.

Adults only

Photo submission is for adults (18+) submitting photos of themselves. Do not submit photos of children. Parents may discuss children's hair by text description only.

What we never do

Sell or rent your personal information — to anyone, ever.
Use your photos for advertising, marketing, or AI training.
Share your data except with the processors named here (Stripe for payments, Anthropic for AI analysis) or where the law requires it.

Deletion and your rights

Email support@veramane.com to have your access-code record deleted; we honour requests within 30 days. Photos require no deletion request — they were never stored. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights (access, correction, portability); email the same address and we'll honour them.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll post the update here with a new date, and — for anything affecting photos or consent — ask for your consent again.
